Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SkillsMap (the "Service"), operated by Run Remy Run LLC, an Arizona limited liability company doing business as Refinery Consulting ("Refinery Consulting," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility & account responsibilities

SkillsMap is a family account product. The person who creates a parent account (the "parent" or "account holder") must be an adult legally able to enter into these Terms. Child/student profiles are created and managed by the parent, under the parent's supervision — students do not create their own accounts or agree to these Terms themselves.

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your account credentials (and any student login credentials you create) confidential, and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that violates any applicable law or regulation;
• Attempt to access another family's account or data, or probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service;
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its infrastructure, or other users' access to it;
• Copy, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or its underlying skill library/content as a standalone product or competing service;
• Upload or submit content through the Service that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Subscriptions, billing, cancellation & refunds

SkillsMap offers a free plan with limited students and monthly AI-generated lessons, and a paid "Family" plan with unlimited students and unlimited AI-generated lessons. New Family plan subscriptions include a 14-day free trial. Payments are processed securely by Stripe — we do not receive or store your full card number.

Unless you cancel before your trial ends, your Family plan subscription automatically renews and your payment method on file is charged at the start of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel.

Cancellation: you may cancel your subscription at any time from /settings/billing, which opens Stripe's secure billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep Family plan access through the end of the billing period you already paid for, then your account moves to the free plan.

Refunds: charges are generally non-refundable, including for partial billing periods, unused trial time, or unused months. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at wes@refinery.consulting and we'll review it in good faith. We may, at our discretion, issue a refund or credit in cases of billing error or as required by applicable law.

We may change our prices or plans; we'll give you reasonable notice before any change affects your then-current subscription period.

4. AI-generated content

Lessons and mastery checks in SkillsMap are generated with the help of AI (a third-party large language model). AI-generated content is provided as a teaching aid, not as a guaranteed-accurate source of truth — it may occasionally contain errors, omissions, or content that doesn't match your expectations. As the parent/educator, you're responsible for reviewing lesson and check content before relying on it, the same way you would with any other curriculum resource.

5. Intellectual property

We own the Service, including its software, design, curated skill library, and branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your family's own educational purposes while your subscription is active. Content you or your students create or customize within your account (e.g., edited lessons, your own curriculum notes) remains yours; you grant us a license to store, process, and display it back to you as part of operating the Service.

6. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it substitutes for a complete educational program or any legally required curriculum in your jurisdiction.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Refinery Consulting will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

7. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you (e.g., by email or an in-app notice). Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise (for example, certain consumer-protection rights in your home jurisdiction).
